Introduction
Peace Dale Elementary school is a safe, accepting and academically excelling school located in the town of Wakefield, Rhode Island in the school district of Wakefield. The original Peace Dale Elementary school was built in 1854. It was a a one room building and since then has rebuilt and expanded into the institution it is today, while maintaining the enthusiasm and will to both teach and learn. Peace Dale Elementary School is located about forty minutes from the capital of Rhode island, Providence, and about twenty minutes from the lovely beach town of Narragansett. It is also located only five miles away from the University of Rhode Island campus. School hours are from 8:49am until 3:17pm with a lunch and recess break from the children. Overseeing the school is Principal Mrs. Pauline Lisi. Along with Mrs. Lisi, twenty classroom teachers, six special education teachers, several para professionals, media specialist, school psychologist, school social worker, and a school nurse that help keep Peace Dale a warm and helpful environment. There are currently 427 students enrolled at Peace Dale Elementary with a teacher to student ratio of 1:9. Students at Peace Dale score above the state average on the NECAP assessments in all subject areas and continue to flourish as an academic community. Along with instilling educational information that will assist children in their future academic careers, Peace Dale teaches and reinforces good behavior and good manners with the assist of the program PBIS (Positive Behavioral Interventions and Strategies). Positive Behaviors such as being respectful, responsible, and safe are reinforced through both recognition of those who go above and beyond and reminders of consequences when one is not. With this context statement I hope to inform parents and others about Peace Dale Elementary School.
